I decided to download a couple of ringtones but start with just one to make sure the downloads to my new pda-phone went through okay. It didn’t. So I called customer service while I worked on outsourcing some jobs online to my virtual assistants.
I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with a really charming guy who walked me through all the protocols while I played “stump tech support.”

Finally, finally, it worked.
The guy said, “Great! I’m going to consider this resolved and if you don’t mind, may I ask which ringtone you selected?”
“Sure,” I said. “An old fav from my teen years. AC/DC’s ‘You Shook Me All Night Long.’”
“An excellent choice!” he said. Then he lowered his voice. “Especially if you put it on vibrate.”
Ahem. I guess we know what Cingular/AT&T will be adding to their next pda-phones!
