I love beautiful tarot and oracle cards, so for each chapter of each novel I write, I draw a card from one of my decks and read it intuitively. For this chapter, I drew the Queen of Chalices Card – Tarot of Sexual Magic. See the bottom of the page for information about the novel.

Devil in the Crossroads (Chapter 15 ), The Lost Teachings of Dead Monks
Charlie keeps thinking he’s in the crossroads or moving out of the crossroads, but until the end of this chapter, he’s still indecisive. The truth is that the crossroads is moving with him. The longer he stays in this state of indecision, the stronger his attachment to Rune.
This card, drawn from the Tarot of Sexual Magic deck, represents his decision or indecision. The Queen of Chalices, known in other decks as the Queen of Cups, shows that at the end of the chapter, he has made a decision about his path forward, and it’s not Lilah.
This Queen’s emotions are important to her, and in other circumstances, she can be a loving woman with healthy emotions. That’s not the energy of this card. Here, the Queen of Chalices is a drama queen.
Rune is a master manipulator, and Charlie’s fallen for it. She’s played him, knowing exactly how to appeal to his martyr complex with calculated sweetness, adoration, and helplessness. He may know in his heart that she was Lilah’s attacker, but he can’t bring himself to believe it. He’s also seeing her darker emotions as she’s lost control of the situation…but ultimately, he’s addicted to drama and neediness.
Law of Attraction, magical library, ancient artifact, witches and librarians. Both Lilah and Charlie try to use the Law of Attraction to get what they want but manifest their fears instead.
