Shamanic Journey: Meet the Guides

Shamanic Journey: Meet the Guides

Part 3 of a look at last year’s shamanic journey, made for me by Kelley Harrell of www.soulintentarts.com, my reaction  then, and my reaction now:

Back in my Lower World, I meet at the circle with Lorna’s guides, who are 5 characters (3 men, 2 women) wearing thick heavy metallic armor (that doesn’t energetically feel like metal) colored in hues of bright blue and purple. Before we can convene as a group on Lorna’s behalf, there is a fire ritual in which together we conjure a small fire in the center of us and each drink it. I feel the fire move down my spine and into the ground and I feel solidly connected to the Earth in a way that I don’t normally.

My reaction then:

It struck me as funny but really cool, too, that these guides would be wearing blue and purple armor. Well, of course, my guides would be wearing blue and purple armor! It seemed fitting at the time that they’d be a mix of men and women,  since I’m not exactly  a girly girl and have  a fair balance of masculine  and feminine qualities. The armor, too, fits.  That warrior/protector/fighter image.

The fire ritual fascinated  me. This was such a great visual effect for me. I know I have a yearning for fire and earth, given that I have so  little in my astrological chart and I’m most air and water, neither of which has the appeal of bare feet in the grass or warming by a fire.

My reaction now:

I’m still delighted with the idea of blue and purple armor! As for the fire ritual, author Gail Wood (“The Wild God”) gave me the best advice on drinking fire—learning to dance around the fire, literally, and emulate it. Even a year later, the fire-drinking  is one of my favorite images that I still carry. I’m just now beginning to feel that sense of fire in myself everywhere I go. I’ve made the connection, I think.
