A year ago today, I headed to Daytona Beach for a writers’ conference. I spent a week there, visited with some old friends, and made some life-changing decisions. Some of the effects have been seen but many have not yet become apparent. A lot of preparation has followed these decisions, and the work has gone on beneath the surface.

The Long-Awaited Honest-to-God Secret to Being Happy

The biggest advantage to the trip and why it was such a catalyst had to do with having some time to myself to work through some issues away from the usual energy of my surroundings. The situation at work and in my geographical area felt oppressive at the time, and the teal waters of the ocean were just what I needed to clear my mind and decide to throw off the oppression and take some action instead of just feeling trapped in a place I didn’t want to be.

That was the point where I defined a new path and began to take steps toward it. The new path included preparation for a new career, but it also meant changing my way of thinking about some things and coming to trust my intuition. From a bird’s eye view, it’s been more of a sideways path than forward, but sometimes that’s necessary to get to a place where you canmove forward.

The new path I defined was a life of abundance separate from anyone else. I’d thought originally that it was going to be career-related only, but it’s becoming so much more!
