This trio of articles covers finding out how the partial lunar eclipse of June 26, 2010 might affect you astrologically by looking at parallel and related eclipses, house placement, and planets in conjunction or opposition to the eclipse.

  1.   Parallel and related eclipses:

For a better understanding of the Saros and Metonic series, read Parallel Eclipses and How They Influence your Life (Part I), which explains the terminology and gives examples of cycles in eclipses.

The two most recent related eclipses occurred July 7, 2009 and December 31, 2009 while the last parallel eclipse occurred 19 years ago on June 27, 1991.  To get a feel for what issues might resurface for you with the June 2010 eclipse,  think back on what was happening in your life at that time.  If you blog or keep a journal, that’s not so hard to remember the more recent eclipses, especially with one of them being New Year’s Eve.  Look at what choices you made at that time, particular the one 19 years ago if you’re fortunate enough to be over 35.  (One of the sweeter things about getting older is that you have a chance to see patterns develop over decades.)

This eclipse will in some way reflect what was happening in your life at that time.  Look back and see what themes emerge, what lessons you learned, and whether you’ll make different and better choices this time around.

If you have trouble remembering what you were doing, here are a few hints about what was in the news at the time.  Hopefully these events will jog your memory.

Wow, after reading the top headlines, I’m a little nervous! Granted, the news tends toward the dramatic and the negative, but these were where our external focus was on those dates.

In my own life, I’d just achieved a huge career milestone that was extremely stressful and had earned an appointment to bind the US Government in contracts with Department of Defense contractors. It was a turning point in my career.  However, my marriage was on extremely shaky ground, and I was having to make a decision of whether to stay or go.  I chose to stay, which was a turning point that locked me into another 13 years that were mostly difficult and restrictive.  The dates of the related eclipses were powerful days that presented me with many gifts.

As I approach this eclipse, I’m faced with some similarities to those times. I’ve learned to let go of the stress and have a different point of view of how to handle career choices, even though there’s some definite pull back toward the work I was doing then and loving, but in a more balanced way.  As far as the decision to remain in an unhappy relationship and to give up my own wishes to make others happy, I’m in a far different place now.  So for me, there’s a theme of responsibility here—of being given tremendous responsibility and of taking responsibility for 100% instead of 50% of a relationship in order to make it work.  I suspect that the idea of responsibility and how I handle it will arise again as a result of this eclipse.  More on how that ties in with career and home in my next article on the location of the eclipse in your astrological  “houses.”  This time, it feel as though much of that responsibility is lifting and I’m at a point of freedom I have not felt before.
