It’s funny how people you haven’t spoken with in months or even years can communicate out of the blue and assume they know what’s going on in your life. Sometimes the messages are ambiguous at best and insane at worst. They just don’t make sense.
Until you think about the last time—well into the past—when they really knew what was happening with you and you put yourself back into that time period. You have to stop and remember what was going on in your life then that they knew about. Then it starts to make sense in that context, even though the form and content have both long since changed.
They easily assume your life is still populated with the same people, the same motives, the same desires. They’re living in the past, and to communicate with them, that’s where you have to go to. Talking about the present will only confuse the issues.
But why is it that such people from the past put demands on your present and future based on what they used to know? It’s not as if they come forward and tell about their present or their future. They don’t even talk about their past.
But without ever asking, they assume that’s where you still are. Because in their minds, it’s true.
