A Blessing of a Car

I guess I’ll have to be nicer to people who drive luxury cars, now that my daughter has one, albeit a vintage car. Especially since I got rid of my  so-not-me Mercedes al- most 2 years ago, I’ve had a lot of disdain for other people who drive Mercedes and BMWs. Not a jealousy thing, mind  you.  Jut a matter  of sneering  at people  who are soooooo image conscious.

The Long-Awaited Honest-to-God Secret to Being Happy

The ones who are trying to show that they’re successful by what they drive or what their wives drive. Bleah.

What sold me originally on Mercedes was the solidity of the car, so  I do realize that other car owners do buy them  for  the  same  reason.  And  that’s  why  Shannon bought her BMW and why I supported her in  her purchase.

The insurance agent told me last Thursday that it was the best possible car to put a 16-year-old in. The premiums are low, low, low. If she wrecks it, she’s out a couple of thousand. But if anyone hits her, she’s sitting in a steel box, much safer than most anything new  that’s on the road.

Bottom line? It was the safest, affordable car that she could find. And it doesn’t hurt that the 1986 BMW owners on the BMW forums told her they’d been rear-ended several  times  and  left  with,  at  most,  a  scratch  on  the bumper but the cars that hit them had all been totaled, including brand new Chevrolets.

Time to bless this car….
