With the tough times, I'm guessing there will be another growth spurt in witchcraft. I think that money difficulties are one of the reasons people turn to the Craft. Unfortunately, many of these folks get all caught up in the Wicca 101 how-to books, and end up buying all sorts of unnecessary tools, thinking you have to have them in order to practice witchcraft. As you indicated, this is a perfect time to break the "want, want, want" mentality and focus on living a simpler lifestyle. It's empowering to let that need for more attitude go, and concentrate on being happy with what you do have, which does not have to be wealth or possessions.
