I live in Tennessee so the threat of direct hurricane landfall is just not a worry. However, we do get the effects with strong storms and the wind bands. We felt Katrina and I really only listened to the aftermath on TV and radio. The appoaching storm just didn't register with me as most hurricanes don't. I am a bit clairvoyant and with Gustav, I cannot take my eyes off of tracking it. I just have a deep rooted really bad bad feeling about this. Just be safe and keep those in that coastal region in your prayers. I think they have finally gotten the hint and are evacuating. I've tried to send my brain waves to that region's population saying, "GET OUT!!"

I found your assessment on animals behavior to be wonderful. I sort of notice animals but I really notice the trees and vegetation. We have strong tornados and you can just tell by the way things look when a storm is coming. Usually the birds disappear. The major F5 we had, my big chow dog was in a panic! She actually led me to the closet with her teeth dragging my pants leg. I kept saying, "What is the matter with you?!!" She'd look up and bark and then grab my pants leg again so I got the hint. She's normally very docile.

I had a comforter over her and myself and it was very hot in there. Each time I would try to lift the comforter back to get some air my dog would panic like, "NO NO NO NO!! Look at me! Watch. See? I'm crouching down. Crouch down Daddy!" It roared over the back of my house thankfully not touching the ground or I'd have been dead. So I definitely take heed when the animals are really upset. They can't talk but they will do everything else but talk.
